A function-oriented surface reconstruction framework for reverse engineering

چکیده
Reverse engineering can be considered as the methodological process of analyzing and reconstructing a digital model physical asset. It has gained considerable interest with advent sophisticated sensors data processing technologies hence becoming an important enabler for product twin. However, while existing approaches to reverse focus on mere geometric reconstruction, this paper presents novel paradigm called function-oriented surface that is capable underlying part function thus outperforms methods. The applicability presented method demonstrated through case study gearbox.
